Races are held in the different regions of the world and take place with dynamic weather conditions and time changes from day to night. Get ready for the start and go for the first place in a grand prix or the new knockout rally mode, or drive freely around the different locations of the world at your leisure. The world is your race track and there's plenty to explore, on your own or with friends, locally*2 or online*3. And we're just on the starting line! • A world where everything is connected: drift, float and drive through an open world for the first time in a Mario Kart game. In Mario Kart World, the circuits are distributed around the world, and the roads to get from one circuit to another are already quite a race in itself. • Grand prix: Earn cups during the grand prix, racing on four different circuits, including the Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup and Star Cup, which take place in different regions of the world. And for the first time in the series, racers have to drive from one circuit to another as part of the grand prix. For example, in the Mushroom Cup you start at the Mario Bros. circuit, and then in the second race you will drive the route from the Mario Bros. circuit to Kroonstad. And when you have won all the grand-prix cups, a certain colorful circuit seems to appear. • Knockout Rally: Race from one corner of the world to another in non-stop racing. If you are too far behind a checkpoint, you're out of the race, so make sure you keep the momentum. And your rivals are not your only dangers on the road. In this position, also watch out for vehicles firing Bullet Bills, attacks by Hammer Bros. and other obstacles. You have to give everything to survive if you want to be first. • Driving around: outside the races there is plenty to discover in Mario Kart World. If you don't go for the first place, you can choose Ride around and take a pleasure trip. Explore scenic locations, leave the road behind, see the seas and find secrets like hidden coins, or hit P-switches for hundreds of missions that will let you put yourself to the test outside of races. While driving around, you can also take pictures, so take a fun pose and snap snaps at your favorite locations during your adventure. • Battle mode: Battles are back and more frantic than ever. Go for gold by collecting most coins in Coin Fight or use objects to pop opponents' balloons in Balloon Fight. Players really need to be careful not to lose all of their balloons, because this time that means they're right out of the battle. • New techniques: jump over obstacles and achieve other benefits with the new charging jump. Use the charging jump to slide over railings, dodge opponent attacks, and even jump into a wall to briefly drive past them. You can also jump from wall to wall to reach hidden routes. Did you miss a trick during a race against the computer or when you play around on your own? You can simply rewind to bring your vehicle back to an earlier location, which is useful for trying a trick again, but keep in mind that opponents continue to drive. So make sure you don't lose your edge. • 24 racers: Mario Kart World races can compete as many as 24 racers from all over the world, the largest number in the Mario Kart series. Up to four players can play together on the same system using a split screen. Are you looking for a racer who hasn't been in the spotlight so often? Take a ride with Goomba, Spike and even the cow. • Objects: Take action on the track with new and returning objects. Throw a coin shield to show up a trail of coins that will make you drive faster for a moment when you pick them up. Freeze opponents (and let them spin around) with an ice flower. Hit your hit and hit opponents with a rain of hammers that also block the road. Use a mega mushroom to get big and drive opponents flat. Jump to new heights with the spring.
